Raiffeisen Bank: Far East Russia could become an “Economic locomotive” of the Pacific Asia.

   The Far East of Russia, with its potential could become an” Economic locomotive” of the Asia Pacific region,”, said senior Advisor at Raiffeisen Bank International ( Vienna, Austria) Martin Lee-Weiner on the results of the investment forum «Far East -2014».

« The forum provide an ideal opportunity to demonstrate a wide international audience, the unique potential of the Kamchatsky Krai. This event stimulates new opportunities for the entire Far East of Russia in the Asia-Pacific region”, said Martin Lee Weiner in a letter sent to the General Director of the Development Corporation of Kamchatsky Krai” Nikolay Pegin.

Martin Lee Weiner expressed confidence that many of the key financiers and investors from all over the world, will strive to realize their interest in the Russian Far East. “I’m sure that the Far East in future will become the locomotive of economic development in the Asia-Pacific region”, said  Martin Lee Weiner.

Investment forum «Far East – 2014» was held in Petropavlovsk Kamchatsky on 4-5 September. The forum was organized by the Government of Kamchatsky Krai and “Development Corporation of Kamchatka” supported by the Ministry of the Russian Federation on development of the Far East. The goal of the forum was to attract investments and partners in the development of the Far East, as well as to develop effective mechanisms for integration of the Far East in the international economic space.

Themes of the forum were the prospects of development of the Far East in the field of energy, transport ( including the Northern sea route), use of natural, industrial and tourist potential of the Far Eastern region and the creation of areas of advanced development.

The forum was attended by over 700 people, including representatives of Federal and regional bodies of state power of the Russian Federation, the leading Russian and foreign financial and investment institutions, transport, energy, industrial and tourist companies, experts and media representatives.
